ANDOK observes 7th foundation day

Anti Narcotic Drugs Organisation Kangleipak (ANDOK) celebrated its 7th foundation day today at Thoubal Melaground Community Hall, reaffirming its commitment to combatingdrug abuse in the State.
The programme was attended by Khangabok AC MLA Okram Surjakumar; ANDOK president Chingkhei Luwangcha; NAB SP Watham Basu; Thoubal Apunba Lup (TAL) president W Rameshwar and Private School Development Council (PSDC), Thoubal president Jotin Salam as presidium members.
Retired Senior Psychiatrist Dr Haobijam Angomcha joined the event as resource person.
Speaking at the occasion, MLA Okram Suijakumar expressed deep concern over the alarming rise of drug addiction in Manipur, noting that many youths from economically weak families are particularly vulnerable.
He remarked that drug abuse often pushes individuals into illegal activities including theft and other forms of crime.
He further stressed that unemployment and lack of opportunity have become major driving factors behind youth indulgence in harmful substances.
The MLA called for a united fight involving community organisations, law enforcement agencies and the public to save the younger generation from the trap of drugs.
