ADC Chandel sets record straight on abduction charge

Imphal, December 04 2013 : The elected members Autonomous District Council (ADC), Chandel district have strongly resented the concerned authorities who have falsely accused them of kidnapping one Dp.

The ADC members said it is a false accusation made on some baseless source.

The members thus made an appeal to Chief Minister O.Ibobi, Home Minister Gaikhangam and DGP, Manipur Shahid Ahmed regarding the harassment and disrespect shown towards them by the concerned authorities on pretext of some clueless information.

Noah stated that the camping was organized to elect a new chairman of ADC, Chandel as a way to catch up to the failure of administration and governance under the leadership of Lhukhosei Zou, chairman ADC Chandel.

He said that on the day of the incident, even though the members of the ADC co-operated with the police officer, no complaint letter was shown to them even as the members were personally called upon and interrogated to the point whether Thomas was kidnapped or forcibly detained by them.

The members, even after requesting the police officer were not given the black or white form of the situation by producing the complainant Hopeson in front of them who was doubtfully sitting inside the police van, they stated.

Upon such approach by the police personnel, the ADC members produced the written statement of Dp.

Thomas which said that he had come to the camping location on his own volition and that the missing report was a false alarm.

Adding to the disappointment of the ADC members, some unknown youths again came to the Nature Cure Care on December 3 around 7 p.m in the evening looking for Dp.

Thomas who had promised some of their relatives to be included in the upcoming recruitment of chowkidar cum peon even as the date of interview for the recruitment was not fixed yet.

After half an hour of heated argument between the members and young blood, the youths finally left the camping place at 7:30 p.m threatening to use guns if their wishes were not fulfilled, the ADC members said.

Soon after they left the place, the additional SP, Imphal East reached the venue with full security and asked the members to vacate the place at the earliest possible to which the members requested for a night stay as it was late and promised to leave early the next morning.

The request was however turned down and were made to leave the place with dire consequences by the additional SP and even questioned the elected members to set up their camp at Chandel knowing that the facts of holding ADC election in Manipur after a gap of decades and that the camping was done democratically and lawfully, the ADC members narrated.
