25 farmers, entrepreneurs flagged off for training programme at ICAR-CCRI, Nagpur

Twenty five progressive farmers and entrepreneurs engaged in the cultivation of GI-tagged Kachai lemon and Tamenglong orange left Imphal to participate in a three-day comprehensive training programme cum exposure visit to ICAR-Central Citrus Research Institute (CCRI), Nagpur from March 5 to 7.They were flagged off from the Directorate of Horticulture and Soil Conservation at Sanjenthong by Commissioner T Panmei and Director K Debdutta.
Fifteen of the 25 farmers and entrepreneurs engaged in Kachai lemon cultivation hail from Ukhrul and Kamjong while the remaining ten are from Tamenglong and Noney districts and involved in Tamenglong orange cultivation.
During the three-day training programme, the team, will learn about new technology and techniques in the cultivation of lemons and oranges which will help in increasing the yield of these GI-tagged crops.
The farmers and entrepreneurs are accompanied by two officers from Magfruit.
