IIIT Manipur hosts conference on 'AI and Advanced Computing'

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Information Technology Manipur, on Monday inaugurated the two-day International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Computing (ICAIAC) 2026 at The Classic Grande, Imphal.
Prof Krishnan Baskar, Director, IIIT Manipur; Prof Virach Sonlertlamvanich, Faculty Member, Data Science, Mushasino University, Japan; Sanjoy Mairembam, Director, IP2 Impact Limited, England; Prof Nameirakpam Basanta, Dean, School of Engineering, Manipur University; Dr Bishorjit Nongmeikapam, Registrar, IIIT Manipur; and Dr Khoisnam Motilal, co-convener of the conference, attended as presidium members.
Addressing the gathering.
Dr Bishorjit Nongmeikapam said the institute received 779 papers from across the globe.
After review for plagiarism and AI content, 207 papers were selected for presentation.
The conference is being held in hybrid mode.
Technical sessions over two days will cover AI, machine learning, data science and analytics, big data, robotics and automation, cloud computing, edge computing, human-computer interaction, software engineering, cyber security, and emerging AI applications.
Prof N Basanta, in his address, said AI has now become indispensable across healthcare, education, manufacturing, finance, and governance.
He stressed that while the Indian AI Mission and National Education Policy offer new opportunities, researchers must ensure AI is developed ethically, transparently, securely, and inclusively.
