Imphal, July 03 2026:
In a rare blend of environmental and humanitarian action, the 'Ningol Van' initiative at Lamdeng celebrated the 77th Van Mahotsav 2026 under the theme "One Blood, One Tree", linking tree plantation with voluntary blood donation.
The programme, held on Friday, saw enthusiastic participation from local women, nursing students, officials of the Central Forest Division, Forest Department Manipur, and healthcare professionals.
A large-scale plantation drive was carried out to strengthen green cover and aid ecological restoration, with saplings planted across the designated site at Lamdeng.
The Central Forest Division extended technical guidance and coordinated the plantation activities to ensure proper establishment of the site.
The event was jointly organised by Life Savers Manipur, Pioneer Club Lamdeng, 1979 DMCSC Stalwarts Manipur, RDO Lamdeng, Lamdeng Apunba Naharol, State Blood Transfusion Council, Central Forest Division, and Babina Blood Centre, Khabeisoi.
Complementing the green drive, a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp was held at the Auditorium Hall, RDO Lamdeng, where forest officials, volunteers, and members of the public donated blood.
The dual initiative embodied the theme, highlighting that a tree sustains the environment for generations while one unit of blood can save a life.
Officials of the Central Forest Division lauded the community's overwhelming response, calling 'Ningol Van' an exemplary model that integrates conservation with compassion and service.
They said such community-led efforts advance the objectives of Van Mahotsav by encouraging citizens to plant trees, protect forests, and bolster the State's green movement through sustained public participation.
The programme concluded with a collective pledge to continue planting and nurturing trees, promote voluntary blood donation, and work towards a greener, healthier, and more resilient Manipur for future generations.
