Imphal, June 03 2024:
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has expressed confidence that the INDIA bloc will wrest 295 seats in the Lok Sabha election, the results of which would be announced on Tuesday, and will form the government.
Addressing media persons at Congress Bhawan, here, on Monday, MPCC senior spokesperson Ningombam Bhupenda Meitei, who is member of All India Congress Committee (AICC), stated that all speculations would be laid to rest on Tuesday with the announcement of the Lok Sabha poll results.
Narendra Modi would step down as the Prime Minister of India, as exit polls conducted by the media are far from being precise, he claimed, adding that the INDIA bloc's electoral success include the two seats in Manipur.
Bhupenda wryly stated that Narendra Modi would be referred to as the "former Prime Minister of India" starting from Tuesday.
While advising the public not to be swayed by inaccurate exit polls conducted and circulated on various media platforms, he cited the 2004 exit polls, which erroneously predicted return of then Prime Minister Atal Bi-hari Vajpayee, and instead the UPA formed the government.
Likewise, there will be a new government at the centre on Tuesday led by INDIA bloc and the new Prime Minister will be from the single largest party of the bloc.
The agents of INDIA bloc are all prepared for the counting of votes on Tuesday, he added.
Bhupenda also asserted that the INDIA bloc would secure at least 295 seats, ensuring the formation of the new government in India.
Additionally, he stated that the INDIA bloc's candidates in both the inner and outer Manipur parliamentary constituencies would win by significant margins and take part in the government formation.
