Imphal, October 02 2025:
Residents of Songjang Pakang village, Kangpokpi district, have expressed deep gratitude to the Sub-Divisional Officer (T Waichong) for swiftly restoring the vital road link that was washed away by landslide that occured on September 11, 2025 at Vako river.
Paogulen Kipgen, president of the Songjang Pakang Youth Club in a release stated that the 800-feet stretch, linking Tamei to Imphal, was crucial for daily supplies and emergency services.
Despite difficult terrain and constant rains, the SDO's team, aided by JCBs and local labourers, worked round the clock and reopened the route on October 2, earlier than expected.
Community leaders praised the administration's efficiency, calling the restoration a lifeline for remote households and a testament to the resilience of Manipur's local authorities.
