Imphal, August 02 2026:
KIMACS, UKAL and AZACO jointly organised a meeting on Sunday at the Music College Hall, Palace Compound, to discuss concerns over performances during Lai Haraoba and other cultural events in the State.
The meeting focused on improper practices in dance presentations held in localities after the main Lai Haraoba rituals.
Teachers of dance, music and traditional arts from different parts of Manipur attended and shared their views.
The three organisations said they have been working to ensure proper training and dignified presentation of traditional dance and music.
To strengthen this, senior gurus were consulted and four new resolutions were adopted in addition to seven earlier decisions.
It was resolved that participating teachers will be placed under strict monitoring.
Any repeated mistakes in dance, music or costume will invite heavy penalties, including suspension for 5 to 10 years and a lifetime ban for further violations.
Substandard costumes will be seized and handed to authorities for disposal.
Action will also be taken against teachers and organisers if performers are found intoxicated during shows.
The bodies warned that violators will be held solely responsible and no further warnings will be issued.
