The Royal Global University (RGU) campus in Assam was filled with pride and celebration as the institution hosted its 4th Convocation, a significant milestone in its journey of academic excellence and transformative impact in the Northeast.
The event saw 1,502 students receiving degrees, marking their academic achievements and the institution's commitment to fostering resilience and bright futures.
The ceremony, attended by dignitaries, families, and esteemed faculty, was attended by Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, union minister for commerce and industry Piyush Goyal, Assam education minister Dr Ranoj Pegu, and industries and commerce minister Bimal Bora, among others.
The highlight of the event was the conferring of Honoris Causa degrees on four distinguished luminaries who have made remarkable contributions in their fields: former Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi; Padma Vibhushan awardee and former director general of CSIR Dr Raghunath A Mashelkar; Padma Vibhushan awardee and former ISRO chairman Dr Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan; and Padma Shri awardee and chairman of Ambuja Neotia Group Harshvardhan Neotia.
The event commenced with a ceremonial academic procession led by RGU chancellor Dr AK Pansari, symbolising the university's commitment to knowledge and innovation.
Governor Acharya, as the Visitor of the University, presided over the ceremony and commended RGU's efforts in bridging educational gaps and fostering innovation.
He emphasised the institution's role in preparing students to make meaningful contributions to the nation.
Union minister Piyush Goyal, in his convocation address, lauded RGU's impact on the region, describing it as a beacon of hope for the youth of Assam and the Northeast.
He praised chancellor Pansari s visionary leadership, stating that RGU's growth is transforming the educational landscape of the region and empowering students to aspire for greatness.
Dr Pansari's address resonated deeply with the attendees, focusing on reversing the Northeast's exodus of talent by providing world-class education locally.
He highlighted RGU's mission to empower the region and nurture leadership.
Addressing the graduates, he stressed the importance of integrating values, empathy, and purpose into their lives.
He also outlined the university's vision to nurture 50,000 leaders and entrepreneurs over the next decade, aligning with India's growth aspirations under the Viksit Bharat 2047 framework.
The convocation was a moment of pride for the graduates and their families, celebrating their accomplishments and the university's dedication to academic excellence.
Among the graduates were Gold and Silver medallists who were honoured for their exceptional performances.
Families expressed their joy and gratitude to the university for its role in shaping their loved ones' futures.
Looking to the future, RGU announced ambitious plans for infra structural expansion, including a state-of-the-art auditorium, an advanced central library, and enhanced faculty workspaces.
Additionally, the university unveiled plans to establish a School of India Studies, focusing on integrating tradition with modernity through Sanskrit, Indian philosophy, and indigenous knowledge systems.
The 4th Convocation of Royal Global University celebrated the convergence of vision, progress, and the transformative power of education.
With graduates stepping into new chapters of their lives, they carry forward RGU's values of excellence, responsibility, and innovation.
Chancellor Pansari's concluding words encapsulated the day's spirit: "Together, we can build a resilient Northeast, a strong India, and a better world for generations to come" .
