National Unity Day observed widely

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell, Fit India Campaign Committee (FICC), and Fit India Club (FIC) of Manipur University, Canchipur, observed National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) on the theme, "Unity and Integrity" at the Court Hall of Manipur University, Canchipur today.
The event held as part of the Fit India Movement was graced by Prof N Lokendra Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Manipur University (MU); T Phulen Meitei, State Nodal Officer (NSS) & Director of Youth Affairs and Sports (YAS); Dr Laishram Santosh Singh, Programme Coordinator, NSS Cell, MU and Prof M Premjit Singh, Chairman, FICC, FIC, and Dean of Students Welfare, as presidium members.
According to a release issued by NSS Cell, MU, the programme began with a floral tribute to the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose birth anniversary is celebrated as National Unity Day.
An oath-taking ceremony led by Prof N Lokendra Singh, further underscored the commitment to unity, integrity, and patriotism among the attendees.
A painting competition, held at Dr Kamal Indoor Hall, saw enthusiastic participation from around 88 students of Classes 6 to 12.Brikrama Lourembam of The Comprehensive School, Oinam, Haobijam Anamika Chanu of Ningthoukhong Hr Sec School and Khundrakpam Chinglemba of SL Arena of Learning won the 1 st, 2nd & 3rd positions respectively in the competition.
Dr Laishram Santosh Singh welcomed all the dignitaries, guests, NSS programme officers, and volunteers, emphasizing the significance of National Unity Day and the painting competition's role in fostering creativity and unity among the youths.
T Phulen Meitei highlighted the power of a young, positive mindset for both personal and societal growth, remarking, "Positive thinking is essential for managing stress and health".
He encouraged active participation in community events as a means to build resilience, social support, and mental well-being.
Prof N Lokendra Singh spoke passionately about the historical significance of National Unity Day, celebrating Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's legacy in uniting over 560 princely States and forging a unified India.
He stressed the need to uphold Patel's vision of a cohesive, diverse Nation.
Prof M Premjit Singh reflected on the importance of unity in addressing the challenges society faces today.
He urged everyone to draw inspiration from Patel's legacy, fostering collaboration, peace, and progress within Manipur.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr H Suraj Singh, NSS Programme Officer.
14 MANIPUR BATTALION NCC
14 Manipur Battalion NCC Imphal under the aegis of NCC Group Imphal commemorated National Unity Day on Wednesday with a series of engaging activities aimed at fostering unity, patriotism, and awareness among the youth.
National Unity Day, observed annually, honors the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a key figure in India's independence movement and the country's first Deputy Prime Minister.
According to a release issued by 14 Manipur Battalion NCC, the NCC Group organised a range of activities, including Awareness Rally, Slogan writing, Painting Competition and Cycle rally with participants strength of 500 NCC Cadets and 15 NCC Staff from NCC Units at Imphal, Chandel and Churachandpur, showcasing their commitment to National Unity.
All the cadets took pledge in front of Kangla to presume Unity, Integrity and Security of the Nation.
"The NCC Group Headquarters Imphal remains committed to promoting the ideals of National Integration and Unity among the youth through such initiatives", it added.
