Imphal, September 29 2026: Sekmai AC MLA Heikham Dingo today said people often perceive MLAs and Ministers as exploiters who siphon off public money, but he has been working without discrimination for the people, even if misunderstood.

He was speaking at the 1st Foundation Day of Lions Club, Senjam Khunou held at Volleyball Ground, Senjam Khunou yesterday.

Noting growing distrust and misconceptions about elected representatives, Dingo said he will strive to win public trust and work without bias.

"There may be lapses and mistakes while working for the people, but development works are being taken up in close coordination with the public in the constituency", he said.

He further said that while the law and order situation has improved in the valley, violence continues in the hills.

The Government is trying to bring peace, he said, seeking cooperation from CSOs and the public and stating that violence only hinders development and brings no benefit.

Mayanglangjing ZP Member Keisham Sohodeba and 158 Battalion CRPF Commandant Sanjay Kumar, among others, attended the function.

As part of the programme, meritorious students who secured high marks in Class 10 and 12 examinations were felicitated.
