Army conducts tree plantation drive

The Indian Army has conducted two significant tree plantation drives in Manipur to commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwas Raj at Jayanti Mahotsav and in alignment with the ecological awareness under the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign.
According to a release issued by PIB(Defence Wing), a tree plantation drive was organised at Leimakhong Military Station to enhance the greenery and biodiversity in the military stations, combat global warming and encourage the growth of flora & fauna in the area.
Approximately 100 saplings of various kinds, including fruit-bearing trees, shady and ornamental trees were planted in the Environmental Park and Amrit Sarovar area.
Another plantation drive was conducted from July 22 to July 29, 2024 across Bishnupur district wherein a total of 1,335 saplings were planted by Army personnel along with villagers of Haotak, Saiton, Kumbi, Phougakchau, Torbung and Ningthiching.
