Mongbung Meetei village under attack again

Jiribam, September 28 2024:
Kuki militants carried out fresh assault on Mongbung Meetei village in Jiribam on Saturday morning using bombs and guns.
It is the 15th time that the Meetei village had come under the ceaseless attack of the armed Kuki militants.
At around 11.30 am, armed Kuki militants who positioned themselves in the nearby Mongbung Kuki village rained down bombs and guns on Mongbung Meetei village.
As armed Kuki militants tried to enter Mongbung Meetei village by firing guns and bombs, Meetei village volunteers and state forces retaliated leading to exchange of fire for several hours.
CRPF personnel deployed in Mongbung Meetei village later joined the state forces in the retaliation.
The attack by Kuki militants continued till 5 in the evening.
However, there is no casualty and injuries on the side of Meetei village volunteers and state forces during the exchange of fire, but suspected some injuries on the side of Kuki militants.
Right after Kuki militants launched their attack, a search light suspected to be from Assam Rifles was fired towards Mongbung Meetei village, which created panic among the people thinking the parachute of the search light as bomb.
People of Jiribam have posed the reason of firing such search light and causing panic among the already frightened people.
During the heavy attacks by Kuki militants, villagers of Mongbung Meetei village especially women and children fled to safer areas.
