Imphal, May 25 2024:
Recalling that it had drawn the attention of government towards the alleged wrongdoings by Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM) authority, Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has lauded the chief minister and the education minister for forming an enquiry committee to probe the matter.
In a release, DESAM H/O secretary education Oinam Romesh stated that the state government has formed a three-member enquiry committee headed by the education commissioner as chairman to probe the wrongdoings in BSEM.
Such prompt initiative signified that the government is against the wrongdoings in education sector.
The government's proactive role in rectifying the misdeeds in education sector is appreciated, Romesh said, while adding that the student body will support such initiative.
However, it is a big question as to how far will the enquiry committee will be able to perform the task without any bias and punish culprits for their wrongdoing, he continued, while asserting that if the education minister wanted to maintain the trust of the people, then the enquiry committee should probe the matter indiscriminately and made the report public.
DESAM will never remain silent if wrong and concocted report were made to cover up the truth, he cautioned, while adding that the student body is fully prepared to launch intense protest.
