World Malaria Day 2026 observed

Imphal, April 25 2026:
World Malaria Day 2026 was observed at the Chief Medical Officer Complex, Imphal West, today under the global theme, "Driven to End Malaria: Now We Can, Now We Must".
The event was graced by dignitaries, including K Jadumani, Additional District Magistrate, Imphal West; Dr Ng Dayabati Devi, CMO, Imphal West; and Dr W Hemolata, District AIDS Control Officer (DACO), Imphal West.
Speaking on the occasion, K Jadumani said collective action, community awareness and sustained efforts are key to elimination.
He added that strengthened surveillance, early diagnosis and timely treatment can make malaria elimination achievable.
Dr Ng Dayabati outlined the district's prevention work, including vector control, distribution of insecticide-treated bed nets and grassroots awareness campaigns.
Dr W Hemolata called for integrated health services and inter-programme coordination to improve public health outcomes.
The programme included awareness sessions and distribution of IEC materials.
Health workers and stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to a malaria-free society.
It ended with a pledge to intensify efforts and ensure no one is left behind in the fight against malaria.
