Residents protest planned Sewage Pumping Station in Wangkhei Tokpam Leikai

Imphal, February 25 2026: Women from Wangkhei Tokpam Leikai, Wangkhei Thangjam Leikai, and Kongba Nandeibam Leikai staged a sit-in protest on Wednesday, opposing the construction of a Sewage Pumping Station at Wangkhei Tokpam Leikai.

Speaking to the media, the protestors alleged that the project is being carried out without proper consultation or transparency, sparking public suspicion and dissatisfaction.

The protestors demand a careful inspection and reconsideration of the location, citing concerns over the impact on local residents.

The protestors cautioned that if the construction proceeds against the wishes and welfare of the residents, the concerned department and authorities will be held responsible for any ensuing issues.
