Meet opposes move to relocate MPA camp

A public meeting held at Uyumpok Khunjao community hall under Khundrakpam assembly constituency on Sunday adopted a resolution against the government's move to relocate camp of the Pambei-led United National Liberation Front's Manipur People's Army (UNLF-MPA) from Nongshum and Pukhao areas.
The meeting was jointly organised by Eramdam Kanba Lup (EKAL), Village Protection Force VPF Sinam, United Committee of Pukhao and Makeng Dolaithabi Gram Panchayat and attended by representatives of various organisations including EKAL chairman H Ibohanbi, VPF convenor H Somen, United Committee of Pukhao and Makeng Dolaithabi Gram Panchayat president Th Sanjoy and Village Development Committee Uyumpok Khunjao president WKokngangbi among others.
Speaking on the occasion, EKAL advisor T Nabakumar pointed out that the meeting was organised in light of the government's recent attempts to arrest village volunteers.
He then said that various resolutions were adopted which included maintaining status quo on the UNLF-MPA camp at Nongshum and Pukhao areas, no collection of weapons from village volunteers until the Kukis attacking Meetei areas are punished, no search operation in Meetei villages near the foothills or hill areas, deportation of illegal Kuki immigrants, uprooting those demanding separate administration and for the central government to stop trying to weaken and eliminate the indigenes for its geopolitics, while urging the government to fulfil the resolutions in consideration of the people's sentiments.
