Imphal, November 22 2025: Nungshitombi Athokpam has been sworn in as the State Information Commissioner of Manipur.

A swearing-in ceremony was held at the Durbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan where Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla administered the oath of office to Nungshitombi Athokpam.

MLA Th Biswajit, the Chief Secretary, the Security Advisor, the Additional Chief Secretary, the Advocate General and other senior officers of the State Government attended the swearing-in ceremony.

Speaking to media persons after the swearing-in ceremony, Nungshitombi said that the main duty of the Manipur State Information Commissioner is assisting the Chief Information Commissioner.

She said that she would discharge her duties with dedication and sincerity so that citizens of Manipur can exercise the rights guaranteed under the provisions of the Right to Information Act.

She appealed to all people of Manipur to know the Right to Information and exercise it judiciously.

The Right to Information Act requires Government employees to maintain official documents and records properly, she said.
