AICTE-VAANI seminar on disaster communication held at Assam Don Bosco University

Assam Don Bosco University, Azara Campus, hosted an AICTE-VAANI-sponsored two-day national seminar on "Al-enabled Resilient Communication Systems for Disaster Response and Emergency Connectivity" in Manipuri language on August 20 and 21 .
The seminar, organised under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Dr Fr Jose Palely and Pro Vice-Chancellor Fr Joseph Nellannat, was spearheaded by cordinator Dr Debashree Borthakur and co-cordinator Dr Smriti Priya Medhi.
State Project Officer of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), Dr Kripaljyoti Mazumdar, attended the inaugural function as chief guest and keynote speaker.
Conducted in Manipuri language under the AICTE-VAANI initiative, which promotes technical education in regional Indian languages, the seminar focused on addressing the unique geographical and infrastructure-related challenges faced by the Northeastern region during disasters and emergencies.
The event brought together experts from leading institutions across the Northeast, including Dr Hidam Kumaijit Singh of Gauhati University; Dr Maibam Sanju Meetei of Rajiv Gandhi University; Dr Bijoy Goswami of Assam Engineering College; Dr Jyoti Kumar Barman, Dr Hemashree Bordoloi, Dr Abhijit Bora and Dr Lal Omega Boro of Assam Don Bosco University; and Prof Lourembam Lolit Kumar Singh of NIT Manipur.
Technical sessions covered a wide range of topics, including challenges in disaster communication, satellite-based communication and remote sensing, artificial intelligence and quantum-aided next-generation communication systems, flood risk management, engineering innovations for disaster resilience, real-world disaster communication case studies and 6G antenna technologies.
The discussions and presentations were conducted in Manipuri language, enabling wider access to technical knowledge while promoting the use of regional languages in higher and technical education.
The seminar provided a platform for knowledge exchange, regional collaboration and capacity building, while highlighting the growing importance of technology and innovation in strengthening disaster preparedness, response mechanisms and emergency connectivity across Northeast India.
