Imphal, June 20 2026: Strongly condemning the bomb attack at the residence of Imphal College Principal Dr Mairembam Chandra, a protest meeting was held today at Sangaiprou Community Hall by local meira paibi and club members.

The meeting was jointly organised by Sangaiprou Apunba Nupi Lup, Sangaiprou Naharol Club, and Sangaiprou Youth Development Committee.

Speaking at the gathering, Nupi Lup president Sanasam Radhashyam said unidentified persons lobbed a bomb into the front yard of Dr Chandra's house near Sangaiprou FCI Road Lampak around 2 am today, triggering an explosion.

"At a time when the State is already in turmoil, hurling bombs at homes where women and children reside is highly condemnable", he said.

He strongly denounced the act and appealed that such incidents not be repeated.

Radhashyam further urged those responsible to come forward for dialogue if they have grievances, adding that attempting to endanger a family's life is unacceptable.

Locals demanded peace and immediate action against the culprits.
