Arms, vehicles recovered, UG cadres arrested

Imphal, April 20 2025:
Central and state forces carried out a series of operations across the state over the past week, arresting multiple cadres from various underground groups and recovering arms, ammunition, and stolen vehicles, according to a statement from the police control room.
On Saturday, security forces apprehended two cadres of Pambei led UNLF from Napet-palli, Andro Road near Nongdam village under Lamlai police station in Imphal East.
The arrested individuals were identified as Yumnam Naocha Singh (24), and Heikrujam Bidyachandra Singh (28) .
They were allegedly involved in extortion activities from vehicles operating on the route.
Items seized from them included mobile phones, sling bags, a wallet containing Rs 3,630, and an identification card.
On Friday, a cache of arms was recovered from the Khongnangpokpi area under Sekmai PS, Imphal West.
The items included one .303 rifle, three pumpi guns, seven rounds, one locally made 12 bore rifle, and one patka helmet.
On the same day, a cadre of the proscribed PREPAK was apprehended from the tri-junction of Sanjenbam Shangshabi village under Lamlai PS.
The individual, identified as Takhellambam Yaiphaba Meitei, 26, had a mobile phone and an Aadhaar card in his possession.
Also on the same day, police arrested two members of KCP (MFL) from Salam Mamang Leikai Ketuki Lampak under Patsoi PS in Imphal West.
The arrested individuals identified as Kangabam Rohit Singh (30), of Nambol Phoijing Makha Leikai, Ward No 6, Bishnupur district, and Oinam Bobby Meitei (38) of Chingmeirong Lei Ingkhol, Imphal East district, were reportedly involved in extortion activities.
Police recovered three mobile handsets, a wallet with an Aadhaar card, Rs 7,810 in cash, and two two-wheelers.
In another operation under Lamlai PS, one cadre of UPPK, identified as Ningthoujam Sanathoi Singh (26) of Yourabung Khunou, was arrested.
He was found in possession of a mobile phone, an Aadhaar card, 109 casings of different calibres, a camouflage helmet, a tactical waist belt, two knee guards, a green pistol holster, camouflage clothing, and a pair of boots.
Police also arrested one member of KYKL, identified as Khaidem Dhanabir Meitei (25) of Lamlai Makha Leikai, with a mobile handset and an Aadhaar card seized.
Another arrest was made on the same day from Kyamgei Heibong Makhong under Irilbung PS .
Thangjam Henary Meitei (31), a cadre of PREPAK (PRO), was apprehended for extorting from the public.
In Bishnupur district, one KCP (Taibanganba) cadre, identified as Khwairakpam Amarjit Singh (27), was arrested from Ningthoukhong Ward No 13 .
A mobile phone was seized from him.
An earlier operation on April 17 led to the arrest of Soibam Boynao Meitei (43), of KCP (PWG) from Wangoo Lamkhai area under Wangoo PS, Kakching district.
Two mobile phones were recovered from him.
In a special drive on Friday, police recovered 15 four-wheeler vehicles suspected to have been stolen or snatched by anti-social elements and miscreants, the statement added.
