KRU expresses concern over non-operational police stations

Imphal, March 20 2026: The Komrem Union, North East India (KRU) has expressed deep concern over the recent Assembly Session's failure to address Manipur's deteriorating law and order, particularly the delay in operationalizing newpolice stations.

In a press statement today, KRU highlighted that stations at Sagang, Kangvai, Ningthoukhong, Kangchup, Airport, and Leimakhong - listed in a notification issued by the Governor on October 7, 2016 - are still nonfunctional.

This inaction has severely hampered security efforts, potentially preventing loss of lives and curbing ongoing conflicts, the union asserted.

The situation around the proposed Sagang Police Station is especially precarious, demanding urgent intervention.

KRU urged the State Government to take prompt and decisive steps to operationalize the police stations without further delay.

Additionally, the union called for 24x7 operations at-Sagang PHC and Khonomphai PHSC to ensure reliable public healthcare.
