5927 persons advised in intoxicant-related cases, narcotic substances worth Rs 1.88 crore seized

AS PART of the third foundation day of the All Manipur Anti Drugs Association (AMADA) which was established on December 20, 2005 (Poinu 20) released a report of its past activities in the three years, in its head office at Keishampat Laishom Leirak today.
The reports says that, AMADA had so far seized local liqours, heroins, SP capsules, N-10 tablets, marijuana, Recodex, Raja, Khaini, Talab, Zarda worth more than Rs 1,87,75,257 .
Besides, 5,927 persons who are indulged in selling, trafficking and using of drugs and other intoxicants were seized and had brought to understanding.
Out of 683 persons seized in case of selling local liquors in the past one year, 398 persons were women.
This shows that the women society of our state are taking more interest in adopting this trade as means of earning.
Beside this, there were six women out of 66 persons caught for selling SP capsules.
There were also three women out of 19 persons nabbed for trafficking heroin.
Likewise, there were 24 women out of 283 persons nabbed for using local liquor.
Two women out of 231 persons were nabbed for using SP capsules.
There were also four women out of 31 persons who were nabbed for using dendrite.
But no records of women indulging in heroin infusion till now.
