'Clarify MKVIB appointment order'

Imphal, October 17 2026: Social activist Thounaojam Napoleon has urged the Textiles, Commerce & Industries Department to rectify the appointment order of Manipur Khadi and Village Industries Board issued on October 5 .

In a statement, Napoleon said the order No MKVIB-101/1/2022-TCI-T, C&I-Part(l) issued by Joint Secretary Asem Rangina appointed Director, KVIC Imphal as a Member and CEO, MKVIB as Member Secretary.

He contended this violates Manipur Khadi and Village Industries Board Act 1966 .

He said KVIC and MKVIB, though related, are distinct statutory bodies - KVIC established under KVIC Act 1956 (Central) and MKVIB under MKVIB Act 1966 (State), with separate functions.

The incorrect appointment will hamper development activities, hence a corrected fresh order should be issued, he added.
