AMNM condoles demise of Prof Yamini

Imphal, April 17 2026: The All Manipur Nupi Marup (AMNM) has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Prof Chongtham Yamini Devi, a legendary social reformer, and academician, who passed away on April 16, 2026 .

Prof Yamini, born on March 1, 1936, in Keishamthong Top Leirak, was a pioneer in Manipuri education.

She served as a lecturer at GP Women's College and retired as Principal of DM College of Arts and Commerce.

A prolific writer with over 40 books in Manipuri, Hindi, and English, she received the Sahitya Bhushan Award from Manipur Sahitya Parishad in 2012 .

As a long-time advisor to AMNM and founder of Yamini Devi Ashram for orphans and destitute women, her work uplifted the marginalized and enriched Manipur's social fabric.

Her demise is an irreparable loss for the State, said AMNM.

The AMNM also shared the grief of the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
