Protest erupts at school

Imphal, March 17 2026:
A protest erupted at Azad English School in Nambol today after reports emerged that a girl student was allegedly beaten by the hostel warden for refusing breakfast.
Furious over the incident, the girl's parents, along with people from their locality, protested at the school campus.
The protesters demanded that the warden be held accountable and brought before them.
They also called for the removal of both the school Principal and the warden.
The situation was brought under control after a team of Nambol police arrived at the school around 6.30 pm.
Speaking to the media, the father of the girl student claimed that his daughter was assaulted by the warden on March 14.He alleged that his daughter sustained injuries after the warden struck her six times on the thigh for refusing to eat breakfast.
He also stated that he learned of the incident from his daughter's friends when he went to visit her today, on the final day of her HSLC exams.
