Moreh shutdown today, CCpur under curfew

Hill Tribal Council (HTC), Moreh has notified all concerned that schools, colleges, shops and businesses shall remain shut on Thursday in connection with the observance of 107th Anglo-Kuki War 1917-1919 .
The notice issued by Hill Tribal Council urged all to comply with the decision taken by the Council to uphold peace and harmony in the town.
Meanwhile, Churachandpur district magistrate has imposed curfew effective from 6 pm of October 16 till 8 am of October 18 in the entire town area of Churachandpur district.
An order issued by district magistrate Dharun Kumar explained that report has been received from the Superintendent of Police about serious apprehension of breach of law and order situation in the entire town areas of the district which will be detrimental to the peace and tranquillity.
Upon careful consideration there is an urgent need to maintain law and order to prevent any untoward incident of violence from occurring, continued the district magistrate, while highlighting the need for immediate extension of preventive measures under Section 163 of BNSS, 2023 to check any untoward incident.
As such, he declared prohibitory order from 6 pm of October l6 and till 8 am on October 18 or until further orders.
As per the order, there shall be prohibition on unauthorised procession or unlawful assembly of five or more persons and carrying of arms/other objects including sticks/rods and stones which can be used as weapons.
