EKVTTA celebrates 52nd Foundation Day

Imphal, December 15 2025: Eastern Kala Vidya Thang-Ta Association (EKVTTA) celebrated its 52nd Foundation Day at Thnga-Ta Shanglen, Nongmeibung today.

The celebration was graced by Yaikhom Achouba Singh, Superintendent Technical Line, Directorate of Craft & Training, Manipur; Khoisnam Dhaballo Khaba, president, EKVTTA; and Wangkheirakpam Jin Meitei, advisor, EKVTTA as presidium members.

Speakers at the event dwelt on the need to educate the traditional martial arts of Manipur like Thang-Ta and Sarit-Sarak to the younger generations.

They shared that Thang-Ta, an indigenous martial art form, is deeply rooted in the Meitei culture and was historically used to protect the Kingdom and its people from foreign invaders.

They also called for collective effort to safeguard and promote the indigenous culture & traditions of the State so that its legacy will be carried forth to coming generations for a strong and developed society.

The event was marked by the presentation of EKVTTA's new production "Thang-Chungoi Haiba" .
