Jiribam, June 15 2014:
'The poorly equipped and lone Community Health Centre in Jiribam has been unable to cater to the medical needs of the people of the area' .
This was stated during a press meet organised by Jiri Louri Khongthang Lup (JLKL), Jiribam here today.
JLKL pointed out that Jiribam Sub- division is 222 Km far away from its Imphal East district headquarters and there is only one Community Health Centre, which is also not well equipped in every sphere of treatment.
During the press meet, the Lup highlighted the recent untimely death of one Kh.
Premchandra Singh (35) S/O Kh.
Kanjo Singh of Kalinagar, due to lack of medical facility at the CHC.
Premchandra was admitted to Community Health Centre, Jiribam following an illness, members of JLKL narrated.
Even though the patient's sugar level was 362.5 at 10 am, Dr..MAmarjit, who attended the patient, took the matter very lightly.
Later when the patient's condition became serious, he was referred to Silchar.
While referring the patient to Silchar at such a critical condition, CHC Jiribam did not provide ambulance, which is being used for transportation of doctors instead of helping patients, it pointed out.
Mourning the death of Premchandra, the Lup appealed to all Civil Organisations and Students' bodies in Jiribam to take initiatives over the uncanny conditions of CHC, Jiribam, so as to save the lives of patients.
The Lup has also charged that the Jiribam CHC is becoming a practicing place for doctors on the patients.
