Source: Chronicle News Service

Imphal, August 13 2021: The state on Friday reported eight fatalities and 522 new positive cases out of 4053 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 12.88 per cent against 14.48 per cent recorded on Thursday.

Despite multiple efforts, health authority has not been able to bring down the positivity rate to single digit.

At the same time, there is no sign of ramping up the test capacity as daily test capacity remains low considering the high positivity rate.

The active caseload has come down to 6671 out of which 2473 (37.07 per cent) are in home isolation, 2061 (30.89 per cent) in CHICs, 1236 (18.53 per cent) in CCCs and 901 (13.51 per cent) in hospitals.

Among the hospitalised patients, 130 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 358 are on oxygen support and 69 on ventilator support.

At the same time, 46 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Friday evening, 2302 beds are available in different CCCs and 204 beds including 66 ICU/HDU beds in different hospitals.

There is no updated information on district hospitals and CHCs.

However, up to Thursday evening, 259 beds (15 ICU/HDU) were available in district hospitals and CHCs.

So far, the state has recorded 77,829 positive cases and 1317 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic.

The current month saw an addition of 8730 new cases and 135 fatalities out of which 4340 new cases and 63 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.

According to official reports, one of the new cases is a jawan of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and the remaining 521 cases (270 male & 251 female) are from among the general population.

The recovery rate is 92.20 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1687 D-type and 388 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

Despite the government's vision to vaccinate cent per cent of the targeted population by next month, the vaccination progress is getting slower as only 6167 vaccine doses were administered on Thursday.

The cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 11,63,774 out of which only 2,67,355 of them have got the second shot despite having 3,23,391 eligible people for getting the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine.

Meanwhile, 16 new positive cases were detected out of 95 samples tested from Thursday 2 pm to Friday 2 pm in Kakching district.
