Cultural production programme on Mahabharata narrative art held

A one-day cultural production programme on narrative arts based on the Mahabharata was organised today at Yairipok High School, by the Regional Centre for Cultural Heritage, Yairipok, under the Guru Shishya Parampara (Repertory Grant) Scheme of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
As part of the programme, two Waree Leeba trainers along with three students presented demonstrations of the traditional Waree Leeba art form, highlighting its cultural and educational significance.
Speaking on the occasion, Headmistress of the school, Priyadasini lauded the organisers for promoting indigenous narrative traditions among students.
She also suggested introducing Waree Leeba classes every Saturday in schools to encourage greater participation and learning among students.
The secretary of RCCH stated that similar cultural production programmes would be organised in schools and colleges across Thoubal district to promote awareness about the cultural and social significance of Waree Leeba in society.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, many of whom expressed keen interest and a strong desire to learn the traditional narrative art.
