AITUC Bishnupur endorses Nationwide general strike on Feb 12

The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Bishnupur District Committee has endorsed the nationwide general strike called by various trade unions and farmers' organisations on February 12, in protest against several issues affecting workers and fanners of the nation.
In a release issued by the AITUC, Manipur State Committee, the decision to endorse the strike was taken during a meeting held at Moirang Phiyanbam Leikai.
The meeting was attended by AITUC, Manipur, general secretary L Sotinkumar; executive member I Tomba; District Committee president S Nilakamal; vice-president M Mangi, among others, who served as presidium members.
The meeting which was attended by representatives from various labour organisations and professional groups, resolved to ensure the successful implementation of a number of resolutions.
Among the key resolutions were participation in the nationwide general strike jointly called by the trade unions and farmers' organisation, and extending support to agitations against the replacement of MGNREGA with the VB-G RAM G scheme.
The resolutions also included opposition to the consolidation of 29 labour laws into four labour codes; support for the demands of Village Defence Force (VDF) personnel, and backing the demands of Airtel workers for the payment of minimum wages.
In addition, the meeting resolved to organise a special seminar in the near future on issues related to the Loktak Project and to play a proactive role in facilitating an amicable solution to the ongoing crisis in Manipur.
