Assam Rifles holds community outreach programmes in Chandel

Chandel, July 12 2026:
As part of its efforts to strengthen civil-military cooperation and promote lasting peace in border areas, the Assam Rifles conducted separate community outreach interactions with representatives of local communities in Chandel district on July 10.According to a statement issued by IGAR (South), the collaborative meetings were held independently at Machi village and SL Zougam village, focusing on building mutual trust, enhancing cooperation between security forces and civilians, and fostering peace, harmony and security in the region.
A total of 12 civil society representatives participated in the interactions, including four from Machi and eight from SL Zougam.
During the meetings, participants appreciated the sustained efforts of the Assam Rifles in maintaining a secure environment and reaffirmed their support for the security forces.
They also pledged continued cooperation in promoting peace and stability in the district.
The statement said the community outreach programmes are part of the Assam Rifles' ongoing efforts to work closely with local communities and civil society organisations, strengthen mutual trust, ensure effective border security and contribute to the long-term development and stability of the region.
