Assam Rifles conducts multi-district health outreach across Manipur

Imp/Ukl/Kpi, May 12: In a concerted effort to promote public health and support the Prime Minister's vision of a healthier India, the Assam Rifles on Tuesday organised a series of healthcare and awareness programmes across different districts of Manipur.
According to IGAR (South), the initiatives, conducted under various national wellness campaigns, included medical camps, awareness drives and community health sessions aimed at enhancing healthcare awareness among both security personnel and civilians.
As part of the "TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan - 100 Days Campaign", awareness programmes were organised at the Mantripukhri Garrison in Imphal West and Keithelmanbi Garrison in Imphal East.
More than 150 Assam Rifles personnel attended the sessions, where medical experts highlighted the seriousness of Tuberculosis, its symptoms, modes of transmission and the importance of timely diagnosis and adherence to treatment.
The experts also elaborated on the objectives of the National TB Elimination Programme and stressed the collective responsibility needed to achieve the goal of eliminating TB by 2025 .
The programme aimed to equip personnel with adequate knowledge so they could further spread awareness within their families and communities.
In another initiative marking International Nurses Day, Assam Rifles organised a medical screening camp at Shangshak in Ukhrul district.
The camp provided basic diagnostic services, medical consultations and essential medicines to 65 villagers, mostly women and children residing in remote areas with limited access to healthcare facilities.
Meanwhile, an interactive health awareness programme was also conducted at Longa Koireng in Kangpokpi district for residents of Longa Koireng and Thangjing Chiru villages.
The session focused on preventive healthcare practices, including the importance of personal hygiene, safe drinking water and prevention of seasonal and vector-borne diseases.
The Assam Rifles stated that the initiatives were aimed not only at providing immediate healthcare support but also at strengthening long-term awareness and resilience against preventable diseases.
Through these programmes, the force reaffirmed its commitment towards community welfare and continued to strengthen its bond with the people of the region by extending healthcare services and awareness to remote and underserved areas.
