Assam Rifles provides critical assistance during fire incident in Tengnoupal district

Tengnoupal, April 12 2026:
Assam Rifles responded in a swift and coordinated manner following reports of a fire incident at Ward Number 3, Phaicham Veng, Tengnoupal District.
According to a release issued by IGAR (South), the fire, reportedly caused by a short circuit in a transformer, originated in a wholesale grocery shop belonging to Kishan Yadav and rapidly spread to an adjoining residential house belonging to Khukhup.
Given the proximity of the structures and the building owned byJamkhomang Haokip, the situation posed a significant threat to the local populace and surrounding properties.
Acting with alacrity, a team of Assam Rifles personnel immediately mobilised to the site and coordinated closely with the Fire Brigade.
Deployed elements utilised available resources, including a water bowser, to actively assist in the firefighting efforts.
Demonstrating high standards of alertness and humanitarian commitment, the troops implemented effective control measures to contain the blaze.
Due to this well-coordinated response, the fire was brought under control in a timely manner, preventing a potentially major disaster and minimising further damage to the area.
While the estimated loss of property is approximately Rs 20 lakh, there were no reported casualties or injuries.
Following the successful containment of the fire and after ensuring complete safety and normalcy in the vicinity, all deployed elements were withdrawn.
This prompt intervention highlights the steadfast commitment of the force to provide immediate relief and ensure the safety of citizens during emergencies.
