Imphal, January 12 2012:
The All Manipur Students Union (AMSU) is all set to inspect the private schools regarding the amount of admission fees and monthly fees charged from the students.
Addressing media persons, Vice President of AMSU, Md Abdul Haque said that the students' organization has worked out a common rate of admission and monthly fees to be charged by private schools, to put an end to the discretionary power exercised by the owners of certain private schools in charging fees from the students, in their own interest.
All those who are against the rate which was fixed by the AMSU and the organizations of parents of the students can challenge the same before January 15 .
If no complaints are made before this date, it will be taken that the rate has been approved by one and all and AMSU will start inspecting schools from January 16, ha added.
According to the rate fixed by AMSU, admission fees for Pre-Nursery and KG classes will be Rs 870, admission fees from class I to VII is Rs 1070 and that for class IX and X is Rs 1170 .
All concern can react against these rates giving their reasons whatsoever, Md Abdul Haque mentioned.
He further pointed out that that some private schools even include Science Laboratory fees, library fees and building fees in the admission fees of students for class nursery and KG, thereby increasing the total amount of fees.
This type of attitude which clearly shows the profit motive of school authorities should be stopped once and for all.
Apart from this, school authorities should also desist from selling the school uniforms and books in the school itself at a much higher rate than the market rate.
