Imphal, December 11 2025: The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, has released the Hospital Infection Prevention and Control Policy and Protocols, Version 2.0 .

The manual was officially unveiled by Director Professor G Sunil Kumar Sharma and is aimed at strengthening infection prevention and control across the institution, said a press release issued by the media cell of RIMS, Imphal.

It was prepared by the Infection Control Committee chaired by Professor Nepram Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, with Professor Heigrujam Rebachandra Singh, Head of Microbiology, serving as the Member Secretary.

Version 2.0 covers key areas such as disinfection and sterilization, environmental infection control, reopening protocols after disasters, isolation precautions, MDRO management, antimicrobial policy, HAI surveillance, pest and spill control, hand and respiratory hygiene, sanitation, PPE use, safe handling of linen, blood and bodily fluids and waste management, and prevention of needlestick and occupational exposures.

By following these Infection Prevention and Control, Standard Precautions, and Transmission- Based Precautions, RIMS strives to maintain the highest quality of care and safeguard public health, added the press release.
