Imphal, June 10 2025:
The Co-ordinating Committee of Clubs & Organisations (COCOCO) has asserted that it will be impossible to bring peace in Manipur by arresting people at whim.
Ever since Manipur gained independence and merged with the Indian Union, the State has faced untold suffering and instability till date, said COCOCO in a press release.
Youths of the State are unable to participate in the global race for development as they are overwhelmed by unmet expectations and frustrations, it added.
COCOCO asserted that the real history of Manipur is disregarded while fabricated narratives/history are promoted and allegedly used by the Centre to challenge peace in the State.
In light of this claim, COCOCO has questioned the true motive of the Indian Government.
It further said that the Government cannot bring peace and stability in Manipur while dismissing the real and sincere grievances of its patriotic citizens.
"There is no difference between popular Government and President's Rule in Manipur.
They are all nefarious designs of the Centre", pointed out COCOCO.
Stating that people's tolerance might cross all limits one day, COCOCO questioned if the Government will resort to criminalizing the public's voice of dissent when the time arrives.
