Imphal, April 08 2026:
Dr Yaikhomba Taorem, Managing Director of Angel Children Hospital, has slammed the Government's handling of the ongoing Manipur violence.
Speaking at a press meet at the hospital in Uripok today, Dr Yaikhomba, a pediatrician, condemned the deadly attack on Tronglaobi village where two kids were killed in a bomb blast allegedly by Kuki "narco-terrorists" .
He called the incident "deeply unfortunate and inhuman", highlighting the conflict's toll on innocents.
"The conflict's toll on innocent lives is heartbreaking- mothers are losing sleep, living on streets, while those in power seem miles away, living comfortable lives", Dr Yaikhomba said.
He questioned the State Government's next move, asking how many more kids will be killed, referencing the Jiribam tragedy where six innocent lives were lost, including three children.
He also slammed the Government's slow response, saying they are yet to take concrete steps to control the situation.
"Resolving the conflict needs sincere efforts from the leadership - but so far, no progress has been seen", he said.
Dr Yaikhomba stressed that politics is everyone's business and those stepping up to lead need public scrutiny.
"We need to ditch the habit of hastily anointing leaders - it rarely works out", he added.
