Imphal, August 07 2025:
Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS), Manipur, has strongly refuted claims made by the Working Committee of Kuki Civil Society Organisations (WCKCSOs) that it is involved in the ongoing bandh called by the Foothills Naga Coordination Committee (FNCC).
In a statement issued on Thursday, FOCS said that it was ''unfortunate" that its name was being dragged into the bandh, which it clarified has "no connection whatsoever" with the federation.
It condemned recent reports aired on local TV channels and published in Imphal-based newspapers that linked former FOCS president Th Manihar to the FNCC protest.
The organisation pointed out that Manihar had completed his term four months ago and had since relinquished all responsibilities.
FOCS accused WCKCSOs of weaving false narratives to shift attention from their own "wrongdoings", noting that the public are well aware of their "habitual practice of fabricating history to establish a foot hold" .
FOCS also reiterated that the reasons behind the FNCC bandh, which is in opposition to the construction of German Road, the setting up of SoO militant camps, and the settlement of illegal Myanmarese on Naga areas, have already been made public and widely reported by the media.
Calling the allegations an attempt to create confusion and stir trouble, FOCS warned against using its name in unrelated matters.
