District Magistrate Noney issues prohibitory order

Noney, April 07 2026:
The District Magistrate of Noney has issued a prohibitory order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, in parts of Khoupum sub-division following a possible breach of peace and disturbance to public order.
As per the order, the assembly of five or more persons and carrying of arms and objects that can be used as weapons -including sticks, rods, stones, and similar items has been strictly prohibited.
The prohibitory order covers the entire area of Lubanglong village under Khoupum sub-division.
In an official notification, the District Magistrate stated that the measure was necessitated by the urgent need to maintain law and order and to prevent any untoward incidents of violence in the area.
The order will remain in force until further notice.
The notification further cautioned that any violation of the prohibitory order will invite strict legal action as per the law.
However, the restrictions will not apply to government agencies engaged in maintaining law and order and essential services.
