Imphal, February 07 2009: In a rare incident of its kind in Manipur, a mother has on Friday abandoned dead bodies of her own son killed by undergrounds on the alleged charged of raping a handicap girl saying that authority can do whatever they want with the dead body.

The dead body has been disposed off today by the Imphal Municipal Council (IMC) .

Asem Romen (27), son of late Ibochou of Moreh ward-7 was shot dead by undergrounds who later claimed to be awarded capital punishment for murder of a 33-year old handicap girl running a shop in the border town Moreh by a joint task force of five underground outfits, PLA, UNLF, KYKL, PREPAK and KCP.

He was killed together with another youth name Md Amir Khan (30) son of Md Babu of Kwakta village in Bishnupur district currently residing at Moreh Ward No-7 on the night of February 3 last.

(A 33 year old girl named Lamkhoting Mate, a physically challenged girl, running a small pan shop at Moreh was found murdered with signs of having been raped inside her shop in the morning of January 22.) Moreh police retrieved the dead bodies in the morning of next and deposited at RIMS morgue, Imphal for official procedures.

The dead body of the other youth, Amir Khan, was taken by the family yesterday for last rites.

The 75-year old mother of Asem Romen named Memma also turned up to the RIMS morgue but left the place after the police were asked to do whatever they wanted to the dead body of his son.

Before leaving the place, she entered to the morgue room where the lifeless body of her son was lying in a cabin and identified as her son before the Investigating Officer (IO).

She remained crying nearby the dead body for some minute and left the place leaving behind her son's body, told the staffs at RIMS morgue.

When the IO was taking up procedures for postmortem and handing over to the woman, she by saying that she has none to help in transportation of the dead body to her native village at Moreh and perform the last rites.

While the police were in surprise to the word, the woman left the place and vanished.
