Mount Everest College celebrates XIV Commerce Day

The Department of Commerce, Mount Everest College (Autonomous), Senapati, celebrated its XIV Commerce Day on Wednesday under the theme "Trade, Invest & Prosper" with an aim to promote financial literacy, investment awareness and entrepreneurial spirit among students.
The programme, held at the college auditorium, was attended by members of the college management, faculty and students of the Department of Commerce.
Business owner and investor Levi Chakre, associated with Private Portfolio Management and the National Stock Exchange (NSE), attended the event as the resource person.
Welcoming the gathering, Head of the Department of Commerce Laijing Diana Maring underscored the importance of financial literacy in today's competitive world and encouraged students to develop sound financial knowledge alongside their academic pursuits.
Vice Principal Dr Gonmei Meithuanlungpao, in his address, urged students to invest wisely and stressed that financial knowledge is essential for achieving longterm success.
"A degree alone does not make you rich; financial knowledge does," he remarked.
During the technical session, Levi Chakre spoke on the importance of understanding market trends before making investment decisions and highlighted opportunities available through the National Stock Exchange.
Referring to the growth of leading companies such as MRF from modest beginnings, he encouraged students to start investing early, plan prudently and focus on long-term wealth creation.
The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, during which students sought clarification on topics related to the stock market, mutual funds and financial investments.
Adding a creative touch to the programme, first-semester Commerce students presented a skit highlighting the importance of smart financial planning.
The programme concluded with a renewed emphasis on equipping students with practical knowledge on trade, investment and entrepreneurship, making the XIV Commerce Day both informative and inspiring.
