Rahul Gandhi to visit state on July 8

Imphal, July 05 2024:
For the third time amid the on-going crisis, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi would be revisiting the state on July 8, his first since assuming the role of leader of the opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha.
According to reports, during his visit, Rahul Gandhi will engage with displaced people sheltered in relief camps across the state, focusing particularly on those living in the relief camps in Churachandpur and Moirang.
He is also expected to visit Jiribam to meet the violence affected denizens.
Meanwhile, an advance team of the LoP arrived here on Friday and soon after visited several relief camps in Moirang area accompanied by members of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC).
Upon landing at Imphal Airport, Rahul Gandhi is slated to proceed directly to Churachandpur.
Details regarding his mode of transportation, whether by road or helicopter, remain unclear.
However, it is confirmed that he will meet with leaders of various civil society organisations and intellectuals of the state.
It may be mentioned here that, Rahul Gandhi's first visit to the state since the current broke out was on June 29 last year, followed by the second on January 14 this year for the launch of Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.
