CRPF units organise plantation drive

As part of the observance of World Environment Day, 69 Bn CRPF organised a mass plantation programme at Mantripukhri headquarters of the battalion on Wednesday.
Led by commandant SA Rojan Zimik, around 1000 saplings were planted by officers, SOs and personnel of the unit with stated objective to make the Mother Earth a better place for everyone, said a release of 69 Bn, adding that the mass plantation drive was carried out using the 'Miyawaki method', which produces sustainable forest in small area.
Commandant Rojan Zimik launched the mass plantation drive by planting a sapling at the unit's headquarters.
Speaking on the occasion, the commandant encouraged the unit personnel to make the plantation drive a part of pious mission in life.
All unit personnel took a solemn pledge to take care of all plants and always contribute to the creation of greener world, the release added.
Meanwhile, a month-long 'Meri Life' mass mobilisation campaign organised by 143 Bn CRPF, Lamphelpat from May 5 ended on Wednesday along with observance of World Environment Day.
In a release, CRPF informed that during the campaign, various social activities including Meri Life Mission Swachhta Drive, awareness drive, donation drive for needy people, healthy lifestyle adoption, awareness activities about sustainable use of resources, disposal of e-waste, debate, essay writing and drawing competitions for children of CAPE and civilians were organised.
On the occasion of World Environment Day on Wednesday, a mass plantation drive was carried out with participation of commandant Ravinder Shar ma, second-in-command Y Nandakishore Singh, senior officers and personnel of the Unit.
The personnel planted saplings including medicinal plants at the event along with holding a pledge ceremony for a safe and healthy environment for the next generation, it added.
