The proscribed KYKL while owning the arson of a Tata Sumo (AS 25B-3357) near Moreh gate on December 2 last has clarified that the vehicle was involved in transportation of Zarda and Khaini.
A statement released by the Deputy Secretary, Publicity and Research of the KYKL today said that the vehicle was torched by a special team of Meeyamgi Yawol Lanmi (MYL) of the outfit while the vehicle parked at the Moreh parking located near the Gate No.2 to Namthalong market of Myanmar.
The vehicle was being used in transporting intoxicant items like Zarda and Khaini from Motbung and Kangpokpi area where trucks plying along the Imphal-Dimapur highway transported from Dimapur and distribute to other places of the state, the statement alleged.
The vehicle was caught by the MYL cadres on the way to Moreh on December 2 last with the said intoxicant items.
But stating that the items were mean for a Kuki militant group, the vehicle escaped from the MYL.
Later, the vehicle off-loaded the items to a place at Moreh and remained park at the parking place where the MYL team set on fire, the statement went on to say.
It is well known to the KYKL that the vehicle has been engaging in transportation of the Zarda and Khaini which the outfit imposed ban and it has been burnt down for violating the ban and carrying Zarda, it said.
