The Bar Council of Manipur in collaboration with the All Manipur Lady Advocates' Association organised a District-Level Legal Education Programme on "Role of Advocates in the Society and Difficulties Faced by Lady Advocates in Legal Profession and Its Remedies" at the office of AMLAA, Imphal West District, Cheirap Court, Uripok.
The programme was attended by Senior Advocate Sharangthem Brajabihari, AMLAA president Advocate Chanambam Kiranbala, Legal Aid & Legal Education Committee, Bar Council of Manipur chairman Advocate Koijam Modhusudon, Senior Advocate Thokchom Modhu, and retired District & Sessions Judge Advocate Aribam Nouteneshwari as presidium members.
Speaking at the event, Advocate Koijam Modhusudon said the programme was organised to discuss the role advocates must play in upholding the rule of law amid growing unrest in society.
He noted that many incidents in the last three years occurred due to failure to uphold the rule of law, and advocates must work to strengthen it.
He added that the session also addressed difficulties faced by lady advocates in balancing professional and family life, and explored possible remedies.
The programme aimed to sensitize advocates on their societal responsibilities beyond court proceedings.
