Govt extends public holiday, school closure

In continuation of its earlier notifications, the state government has declared July 5 (Friday) as public holiday for all government offices/corporations, and banks, financial institutions and LIC in the state.
In an order issued by GAD deputy secretary Angom Heera Singh on Thursday, the state government also appealed to the public to stay indoors except for emergency so that authorities can carry out rescue and relief works smoothly.
It also stated that departments involved in rescue and relief operations, namely Home, Police, Fire Services, District Administration, Relief & Disaster Management, Power, Health & Family Welfare, PHE, Water Resources, PWD, GAD, CAF&PD, MI, Forests, LDA, etc., shall have working day.
Officers/employees of all the other departments will also be available on phone call for any eventuality.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Education-Schools announced that all schools in the state will remain closed on July 5 and 6 .
According to the order issued by Education (Schools) director L Nandakumar Singh, in continuation of its July 2 order and owing to the worsening flood condition which has caused submergence of vast tract of residential lands and educational institutions, and keeping in mind the safety of the students and teachers, all schools in the state including government, government-aided, private and central schools shall remain closed on July 5 and 6 .
In this regard, Zonal Education Officers/DIs of schools (independent charges) under the Department have been advised to intimate the same to all concerned under their respective jurisdiction and take up necessary actions accordingly.
