Imphal, January 04 2025:
Lamlai Kendra Village Volunteer Force (LKVVF) has warned of bunching counter economic blockade if the ongoing economic blockade imposed by Kuki groups along the NH-2 (lmphal-Dimapur route) is not lifted.
The body also demanded that the authorities should not remove the central forces being deployed at Uyokching.
Speaking to media persons at Thamnapokpi Mayai Leikai on Saturday, Lamlai Kendra Village Volunteer Force (LKVVF) commander-in-chief Yumkhaibam Bosan stated that in view of the problems, threats and inconveniences faced by the people residing in red zone areas under Lamlai assembly constituency, central forces should not be removed.
At the same time, he appealed to the government to look into the economic blockade on NH-2 in Kangpokpi area.
Bosan then cautioned that LKWF would launch a counter economic blockade along the Imphal-Ukhrul road if the authorities fail to resolve the current economic blockade.
He also denounced the renaming of Thamnapokpi Uyokching and Yaingangpokpi Uyokching as Saibol village by Kukis as unfortunate.
There is no Saibol village in any government record, he asserted.
"It is surprising that Kukis are imposing economic blockade demanding removal of central forces from the said village forests," Bosan remarked, adding that Kangpokpi district SP had even assured of removing central forces within 24 hours.
He contended that people of Yangangpokpi, Thamnapokpi, Santikhongbal, Sanasabi and Sabungkhok under Lamlai assembly constituency are frequently attacked by Kuki militants.
As such the assurance for removal of central forces caused fear and anxiety to the people, he added.
