Groups appeal for support: Paona Brajabashi Memorial construction hits snag

The Arapti Maning Leikai Youth Development Association and Paona Mongfam Meira Paibi Lup have appealed to the public to support the construction of the Paona Brajabashi memorial site,whichis feeing delays due to obstructions.
During a press meet held today at Arapti Maning Leikai, Yumkhaibam Bimol Meitei, president of the Youth Development Association, claimed that the construction of the memorial at Arapti Yumkhaibam, where Paona Brajabashi's last rites were performed after he sacrificed his life in the 1891 Anglo-Manipur War, is being hindered by some individuals.
He recalled appeals made to State Governments over the years to develop the site, but noted that no action was taken until recently.
He welcomed the recent development work initiated by Lok Sabha MP Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, but expressed concern over individuals intimidating workers and causing delays.
Bimol Meitei appealed to those involved to reconsider their actions and urged the public to support the efforts to develop this historical site.
Representatives from Meira Paibi Lup also attended fee press meet, stressing fee importance of allowing construction work to proceed smoothly.
